TED Talks are coming to Omaha this October and Aqua-Africa will be in on the conversation. Buey Ray Tut, Aqua-Africa’s founder and president, will be one of ten speakers to take the stage at TEDx Omaha.

If you’re unfamiliar with TED, it is an organization that facilitates global conferences on a variety of issues—from science to art to international affairs. While these events have been taking place since 1984 they’ve taken off in popularity since 2006 when they were made free to viewers online. The organization’s slogan is “ideas worth sharing” and their speakers’ goal is to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation through short, engaging “talks.” Bill Clinton, Bono, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson are just a few of the famous names that have participated in past TED talks.

Omaha’s TED Talk will take place on Saturday, October 25th at Creighton University’s Harper Center from 12 PM to 6 PM. The event is already sold-out and over 500 people are expected to be in attendance.

When asked if the prospect of speaking before such a large crowd makes him nervous, Buey says, “you bet it does! But I’m willing to put up with a little stage fright for an opportunity to share Aqua Africa’s story with an awesome crowd of like-minded thinkers.”
