Aqua-Africa & Water for South Sudan Team Up for The United Peace and Development Project

Aqua-Africa partnered with Water for South Sudan, Inc. this spring to bring clean water to remote villages in South Sudan. Salva Dut, a former “Lost Boy” of Sudan and founder of Water for South Sudan (WFSS), and Buey Ray Tut are from different tribes which have a history of conflict, but came together to form a partnership. Salva, Buey and their organizations came together to drill four water wells and show how to work together to make a difference and build a new nation.

The joint venture is called The United Peace and Development Project. The first well was drilled in Warrap State in early February, with the remaining three wells planned for the fall. “We are dedicated to our nation,” says Buey, who is from the Nuer tribe. “We are trying to make our country a better place.”  Salva, from the Dinka tribe, agrees. “We need peace in our country. We want to show people how we can all work together.”

Aqua-Africa believes this partnership to be a significant one, sharing the same goals of well digging, community engagement and training. Look for more future activities with this exciting new partnership.

It takes a lot of work to dig a well!
