“Build-A-Hut” Program Grows!

August 3, 2023 – Omaha, Nebraska. The 2023 Build-A-Hut STEM Summer Camp for Nebraska youth ended with a spectacular competition on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Eight youth organizations from Douglas-Sarpy Counties, Madison County (Norfolk), and Dodge County (Fremont) participated.
Campers learned construction engineering, civil engineering, and solar energy skills while completing curriculum developed by the 4-H through the UNL Extension education process. The 4-H in partnership with Imagine Science, hired interns and teen teachers to deliver the curriculum.
Aqua-Africa hosted a competition for 40 youth who competed for a $1,000 prize for their sponsoring youth organization’s math and science program. The Douglas-Sarpy 4-H team took home the winning prize.
