Experience Omaha in a Brand New Way

For the past several years, Aqua-Africa has held a fundraiser and 10-kilometer water relay race, “The Aqua-Run.” With a racially and culturally diverse group of participants, the Aqua-Run event is something we have looked forward to hosting each year. Unfortunately, in 2020, we do not believe we can safely hold the event in its present format. And, while we look forward to future Aqua-Run running events, for 2020 we will be hosting the family walk component only.

The socially distanced 2K walk around Elmwood Park will be held Saturday morning, September 5th, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Walk “teams” may be comprised of 2 to 8 people from your quarantined family unit (or similarly trusted individuals).

Like many of you, Aqua-Africa’s team has been in quarantine with our families. Confined mostly to the house or apartment, it has been “Just US.”

During the Just US Walk you will experience the Omaha community while completing a fun-filled game.  Your team will assume a secret identity and encounter six surprising “challenge stations” during your 2K walk. Following the walk, valuable prizes will be awarded, including medals to the top 4 “Just Us” teams.

We will be limiting the size of the walk to the first 200 registrants. Therefore, you must pre-register online by Clicking Here. Children aged 8 and under walk free. Game instructions will be provided following registration.

If you enjoyed the Aqua-Run, you are going to love the Just Us Walk. We promise to provide an experience unlike any other!

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, 100% of your registration fees and donations will go directly towards the provision of clean drinking water to communities in South Sudan.

Be sure to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for seating. Relax and enjoy the post-walk festivities! Water, music, and unique photo opportunities will be provided. Additionally, the Maui Wowie food truck will be present and serving those delicious fruit smoothies! Face masks will be required for all volunteers and walkers. Social distancing rules will also be enforced by our volunteers.

We hope to see you there, family! Otherwise, it will be “Just Us.”
