Lyons-Decatur Northeast BioBlitz 2020
On September 21st Aqua-Africa’s Program Director, Mabior Acouth, traveled to Lyons, Nebraska to participate in the “2020 Bioblitz Event” with students from Lyons-Decatur Northeast High School. Using demographic data collected by Aqua-Africa, the students compared their life experiences to those of youth living in Maiwut, South Sudan. The students teamed up and competed in a water collection and transportation race. The students also collected plant and animal specimans and analyzed the biodiversity of Logans Creek in the community. Thanks to Science Teacher, Paul Timm for his invitation and organization of the learning activity. We appreciated the opportunity for cross-cultural learning and the opportunity to present our immigrant story the students. It was a great day. Go Cougars!
