Reinforcing Steel – Maiwut
May 8, 2023 – The four Village Supplier trenches in Maiwut have been dug and are being filled with concrete. Rebar (ie. reinforcing steel bars) is then placed in the concrete before it sets, to provide additional strength and to prevent cracking. The rebar is used in the footings, which are the part of the foundation that distributes the weight of the Village Supplier to the soil below.
In construction projects, the size and spacing of the rebar will depend on the specific requirements of the project and the load that the footing will need to support.
Aqua-Africa’s team is in Maiwut now, and will be joined by five additional technicians from its subcontractor, CRN, later today. Construction will progress more rapidly with the addition of these new team members.
