WMC Locked Money Boxes
August 30, 2023 – Budi County, South Sudan. Aqua-Africa’s MicroDemocracy Program took a HUGE leap forward, when it began providing elected Water Management Committees (WMCs) with lock boxes for the storage of management records and water usage fees. In many communities, usage fees may include money or other items of value which must be collected and stored. This may now be done safely and securely.
Collected usage fees are recorded and reported to the community in public records, as well as the expenditures made to repair the installed water infrastructure (hand pump systems & water yards).
In these photographs you see the boxes which were distributed to excited WMCs in Budi County and Jur River County as part of the Afia WASH project being supported by Aqua-Africa for USAID and DT Global.
